A second half triumph saw Thornton-Cleveleys, after they came back from a two goal deficit to win 3-2 against Daisy Hill.
A late first half thunderbolt from Archie Lang gave the Reds’ hope after being two goals down just before the interval.
Luke Noble played a man of the match performance, setting up Ben Duffield for the equaliser and scoring his first goal for the club to give the visitors’ a much needed victory.
Thornton-Cleveleys began the game strong as the first chance of the match came from an over the top ball from Archie Lang that set up Luke Noble, but despite the striker successfully battling off the defenders, the ball just got away from his feet.
Daisy Hill attempted to answer back straight away but the new boy, Joshua Eccles, was there to keep the attacker from being through on goal.
More Red action as Jordan Moran guided a header back into the danger zone from Jon Fraser’s free-kick, but in the end the play fizzled out.
Against the run of play, Daisy Hill received a penalty, Lang tackled the attacker from behind in the 26th minute and the home side took the lead in the match.
A minute later, Mark Smith was called upon as Daisy Hill’s striker had a chance on goal but the man between the sticks matched his effort.
The home side’s second goal was identical to their past chance but this time they didn’t let the Reds’ off so easy in the 34th minute.
It was an end to end 10 minute as both teams looked to find a goal for different
reasons, by this time they figured each other out and it would take something special.
Archie Lang came out of the blue with brilliance in the 44th minute as he let one fly from distance to rocket into the back of the net.
The Reds’ went into half time with something to fight for.
Just two minutes into the second half, winger, Jordan Beavers was brough down in the box to give the travelling team a penalty.
Noble stepped up to attempt to get off the mark for his new club but his penalty and follow up shot were both saved by the goalkeeper, the striker was unlucky.
The miss didn’t get the striker down because in the 53rd minute Noble picked up the ball from the wing and chose to cut it across to his strike partner Ben Duffield, who equalled the score line.
The man of the match had a feel for his boots at this point as he received the ball in a similar area but this time decided to take the shot on himself and gave the Red’ the lead in the 60th minute.
More drama unfolded in the closing half an hour as Daisy Hill’s keeper was sin binned for 10 minutes.
There were sighs in the stadium as the Blue’s had a late chance that crossed over the line but the referee decided their goal was offside.
Thornton-Cleveleys managed to hold on and claimed their first victory in four matches.
